ABC Picks Up Pair of Comedy Pilots Although ABC is concentrating on drama projects this pilot season, it has some comedies in the works as well.
The network ordered two sitcom pilots Monday (Feb. 10), one about a pair of best friends and one about a teacher who finds himself dating a celebrity. The first, called "Platonically Incorrect," comes from producer-director Tom Shadyac ("The Nutty Professor," "Bruce Almighty" ) and writer Darlene Hunt, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It focuses on a man and woman who work together and are best friends outside the office. Shadyac, Hunt and Michael Bostwick are the executive producers.
Chris Henchy ("Spin City," "Life with Bonnie") and Marco Pennette (ABC's midseason comedy "Regular Joe") wrote the second project, which is for the moment untitled. The show is based loosely on Henchy's experience dating Brooke Shields, who is now his wife.
Henchy and Pennette will have executive producer credits along with Tollin/Robbins Productions principals Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins and Joe Davola. ABC has also ordered a comedy pilot from Michael J. Fox, who's making his first foray into writing. The network has a dozen drama pilots in development. Related Shows
